Opening of the 2024/2025 Fishing Season

The fishing season in the rivers and lakes of Neuquén Province began on November 1 and will run until May 2025. This activity is vital to the region’s economy and tourism, ranking as one of the most important attractions alongside winter sports. This year, the official season launch took place in Junín de los Andes, with San Martín de los Andes joining the festivities with its Fly Fishing Fair. Junín’s selection as the official host is due to its reputation as a world-renowned fishing destination.

Despite a challenging economic context, the fishing season continues to attract loyal enthusiasts from Brazil, the United States, Europe, and across Argentina. Junín de los Andes, celebrated as the national trout capital, will once again host the National Trout Festival from March 7-9. This city has a rich history of fishing in its rivers and lakes, making it an exceptional place for this sport.

Chapelco Airport is the ideal gateway for those looking to enjoy this exciting activity, offering direct flights from Buenos Aires and connections from other parts of Argentina and abroad. It’s the perfect starting point for exploring Patagonia’s unparalleled fishing experience.
